| Top 10 Reasons Why We Offer the Best T1 Consulting Service |
Written by - Patrick Oborn, CTO - ShopforT1
July 8, 2004 - Shopping for an inexpensive T1 line
and determining T1 availability where you live is never easy.
When you go to perform a search in your favorite search
engine, you see millions of pages, all of which claim to save you money. In reality
what your are seeing are a bunch of internet marketing experts who know little
about dedicated service at all. They create simple HTML forms that look like they have been
programmed by a seventh grade student which captures your information, and either
sends it to every vendor in the universe or some in-house former used-car salesman
who will sell you whatever will pay him the biggest bonus. The internet is littered
with this garbage, confusing customers and leaving a sour taste in their collective
mouth. What started out as a search for competitively priced dedicated services
has turned into a circus!
In 2002 my partner, Adam Edwards, and I decided to take the road less traveled. We
realized early on that in order to create an online experience that was worthy of your
time, we needed to provide information you can use - not your typical "enter your
information here and we'll get back to you" elementary page. In order to do this, we
invested a full year researching all of the different
T1 providers in order to understand their pricing models, many of which were created long before we were born.
Based on information we extracted from this research, we invested heavily in complex programming
that would allow us to calculate loop prices, or the cost that the local phone companies pass on to the
dedicated service providers for access to their network. This cost varies by mile,
by market, and by geographic region of the country. Once we rolled up our sleeves
and performed extensive testing, we called our product 'GeoQuote' and released it to the
public on this very web site in 2003. We are currently in the process of patenting this
unique technology.
In this year alone, 223,838 unbiased real-time quotes have been created
by online shoppers just like you. Instead of waiting for days to even see pricing,
we give it to you in just seconds. Throw in the courtesy phone call that you will
receive from one of our certified broadband consultants who can answer your questions,
help you design your network, give you the strengths and weaknesses of each of our
providers - and you have a winning combination.
Don't be fooled by the imitators! Since we launched our site two years ago, many have
attempted to copy our concept, our business model, and even our domain name! It's amazing
how in-style real-time
shopping has become, especially considering that the reaction
we received by our vendors when we divulged our plans to create GeoQuote. Some of the
reactions we received include "that can't be done - it's never been done before" and
"that is an interesting business model". Now these same vendors have become
believers, and our very best partners.
Change has been embraced. Thousands of
T1 lines
have been sold across the USA in just the past few months. The way people shop for broadband services will never be the same.
As we go forward, our goal is to continually improve our product, our site, our
knowledge of the industry and products, and most of all, to build a bond with you -
our customer - that will last for years to come. Earning your trust is what we do here.
Saving you money on
New Jersey T1 service
is how we keep it.

| Definitions of a T1 Line |
|
Definition 4. - The T-carrier system, introduced by the Bell system in the US in the 1960's, was the first successful system that supported digitalised voice transmission. The original transmission rate (1.544 Mbps) in the T1 line is in common use today in ISP (Internet Service Provider) connections to the Internet
Definition 2. - A type of high speed Internet connection that provides a great deal of bandwidth. Many businesses lease T1 lines to connect to the Internet, but because they are expensive and offer more bandwidth than most small businesses and homes need, they are not realistic solutions for small and low-demand Internet users.
Definition 3. - The T1 (or T-1) carrier is the most commonly used digital line in the United States, Canada, and Japan. In these countries, it carries 24 pulse code modulation (PCM) signals using time-division multiplexing (TDM) at an overall rate of 1.544 million bits per second (Mbps). T1 lines use copper wire and span distances within and between major metropolitan areas. A T1 Outstate System has been developed for longer distances between cities.
Definition 1. - A high-speed digital connection capable of transmitting data at a rate of approximately 1.5 million bits per second. A T1 line is typically used by small and medium-sized companies with heavy network traffic. It is large enough to send and receive very large text files, graphics, sounds, and databases instantaneously, and is the fastest speed commonly used to connect networks to the Internet. Sometimes referred to as a leased line, a T1 is basically too large and too expensive for individual home use.

Is a T1 Connection Better than DSL?
|
|
by - Ron Jacobs, Staff Writer
Is a T1 connection
better than a DSL connection? A more appropriate questions might be "Is a T1 connection MORE APPROPRIATE than a DSL connections. A T1 connection and DSL connection both offer bandwidth at high speed but have two factors that greatly differentiate them from one another. Those factors are price and realiability. A DSL connection has a low price and is less reliable than a T1 connection. A T1 is much more expensive than a DSL connection but is also much more reliable.
So are you looking for reliablity or price? Reliability becomes critical when customers or employees depend on your connection for immediate responses. If your customers use your connection to access your databases or your server or the internet then reliability of your connection is critical. If your employees depend on your connections because you host the e-mail server in house or host web servers, your connections is considered critical. A critical connection can be viewed much like a life line, without which your business would be negatively impacted. Your monthly savings of having a sub-par connections will not make up for the loss in productivity of your employees or loss of customers when your DSL connections gets bogged down or cut off. To reiterate, ciritcal connections should be supported with a
T1 connection.
Many customers are extremely price sensitive and cannot afford the cost of a T1 which can be as much as 20 times more expensive than a full T1 connection. Residential customers who are most sensitive to price should not consider a T1 connection unless then have a business reason to pay for such a circuit and cannot access DSL service. You may get lucky and find a T1 connections that is low cost which would give you both price and realiability but be careful. Many T1's sold for less than $600 are not truely dedicated circuits and are oversubcribed. In short, if price is your critical factor go with DSL. If reliability is the critical factor purchase a dedicated T1.

| Find a T1 Line Price in Seconds |
|
Written by - Kiersten Thomas
Why shouldn't shopping for a dedicated internet service be as simple as shopping for a plane trip to Hawaii? In the past the process of getting pricing for dedicated internet service has been anything but simple but that has just changed. Today getting a
t1 line price is as simple as entering your information and hitting "enter". With Geoquote software brokers are now offering real-time T1 prices just like you had hoped you could get when you started your search.
Geoquote is a software recently released that allows brokers to give real-time pricing to those seeking service. The software is doing for the telecom industry what Sabre did for the travel industry. In the 60's AMR, the parent company of American Airlines created a software and then began licensing it to the public. This software backed by massive databases was spun off in the form of "Sabre" which owns Travelocity and licenses this software to travel brokers and websites.
If the creators of Geoquote follow the same path as Sabre, this software will be the industry standard and brokers will have to use this software to enable their customer to get quotes in real time. While some brokers are able to run a profitable business without giving out real-time informaion these brokers will soon see their profitability reduce as they spend more time gathering information than actually dealing with customers. If you're currently searching for service, make sure you find a broker that uses Geoquote software.

| The Secrets of Fractional T1 |
|
Written by - Andrew Sinkowski
If a full T1 isn't in your budget, you need to consider a
fractional t1
line. Why not get all the advantages of T1 even if your not in a market for a full T1? For many people the biggest factor in their decision is reliability and if reliability is critical to the applications you run over your connection you should seriously consider replacing your DSL connection with a fractional T1. DSL is a quick and cost effective method of acquiring high speed bandwidth however it is not intended to support commercial applications or large numbers of users as are T1 connections.
One drawback to fractional T1 service is the price. Even though you won't have a full T1 you will be paying quite a bit more than you did for your DSL connection. This is due to the structure of T1 pricing. A T1 connections is established by providing a "loop" or wire from the users premesis to the CO where the service provider has equipment. Part of the cost of a T1 is the "loop charge" or the monthly rental fee for the wire that is rented from the local phone company. Once the connection reaches the CO it can access the carriers network and reach any destination. This loop is paid in full whether you use a fraction of the available bandwidth or the full 1.5Mbps and therefore your price for a 768Kbps fractional T1 connection will never be half the price of a 1.5mbps full T1 connection.

These keywords provide a brief overview of the services offered by Shopfort1.
Although the price reduction is not what you might expect it to be, this may put a T1 in your budget and be a great way to get dedicated service into your building. Once you have fractional service upgrading to full service is easy. Fractional service typically comes in 256Kbps increments from 256Kbps all the way to a full T1 at 1.5Mbps. Find the service that's right for you, but if you are supporting critical services think reliability. Reliability becomes critical when customers or employees depend on your connection for immediate responses. If your customers use your connection to access your databases or your server or the internet then reliability of your connection is critical. If your employees depend on your connections because you host the e-mail server in house or host web servers or ASP type products, your connections is considered critical. A critical connection can be viewed much like a lifeline, without which your business would be negatively impacted.
